World No. 1 Serena Williams was defeated by Italy’s Roberta Vinci in the semi-finals at the US Open.
The 21-time Grand Slam champion’s missed out on the chance to complete the calendar Grand Slam after the American was defeated by unseeded Italian Roberta Vinci on Friday 2–6, 6–4, 6–4.
