ATP Tour: Mark Philippoussis poised to make return
Two-time Grand Slam finalist Mark Philippoussis has been handed a wildcard entry in the qualifying draw at next month’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport.
The 38-year-old Australian has been given the opportunity to make a return to the ATP Tour, which get underway on July 11.
With 11 career titles to his name, reached a career high ranking of world number eight. He made into the finals at the 2003 Wimbledon and 1998 US Open.

It will be Philippoussis’s first tour competition in nine years after his career was cut short by a knee injury in 2006 when he defeated American Justin Gimelstob in the final of the Newport tournament.
Do you think it is a legitimate return from Philippoussis at the age of 38, especially after nine years away from the ATP Tour?
