Rory McIlroy wins US PGA Championship for second straight major
Rory McIlroy, of Northern Ireland, has won the second major title in four weeks after winning the US PGA Championship in dramatic fashion at Valhalla on Sunday.
The World No 1 has now claimed three tournaments in a row and fourth major of his career, all by the age of 25.
He finished the day, one stroke ahead of Phil Mickelson, with a final round three-under 68.
Following this victory – McIlroy is now become the first golfer to win consecutive two major championships in the same year since Ireland’s Padraig Harrington in 2008.
“Golf was looking for someone to put their hand up and become one of the dominant players in the game.” – @McIlroyRory
