World Cup 2014: Italy Beats England 2-1
World Cup fans did you guys just watched England versus Italy in their opening Group D: World Cup match in Manaus on Saturday.
Let me tell you, It was one of the biggest football match we had, well I guess maybe for me because, I’m a huge England fan.
In the England match up it started up with Italy scoring very quickly, Claudio Marchisio was the guy who scored for Italy in 35th minute mark.
Just two minutes later, Daniel Sturridge converted Wayne Rooney’s assist to the back post to equalise.
So going into the half time, it was 1-1 tie, when the second half started, Mario Balotelli scored for Italy in 50th minute putting them up to one lead.
It was so evenly matched both of them had nine shots on net and the time of possession was very even as well.
I was really hoping to see more scoring from England because one of the most important players in Italy is their Goalkeeper – Gigi Buffon, who twisted his ankle so we had to miss the first game in the World Cup. But the 36-year-old shot stopper was replaced by Salvatore Sirigu and he seemed to be doing a great job because he only let one ball in.
The final result leaves England in a sad situation ahead of their next match against Uruguay on June 19.
