Magpies to launch £20m bid for Joshua King

Newcastle United are lining up a summer swoop for Bournemouth striker Joshua King, who joined Cherries from Blackburn Rovers in 2015.

Magpies manager Rafael Benitez is keen to strengthen his frontline options and has identified the 26-year-old forward as a prime transfer target, according to The Sun.

The Cherries are said to value the Norwegian at around £20m and the striker is reportedly open to a make a move away from Dean Court this summer.

The report adds, Rafael Benítez’s side are readying an offer to Bournemouth and also working on personal terms to offer to King, who helped his side to a club-record ninth-place finish in the Premier League.

Benitez was recently linked with Arsenal as a potential successor to outgoing manager Arsene Wenger, but he is said to be keen to remain with the Magpies.

King has scored 30 goals over the past three seasons on the south coast.
