Manchester United are reportedly considering a move to sign Brazil international Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to The Daily Record.
The Red Devils are believed to be on the lookout for the midfielder as manager Jose Mourinho looks to revamp his squad in the mid-season transfer window.
The report adds that Mourinho has identified the Brazil international as a top transfer target because the Portuguese boss wants to increase his tactical options in the centre of midfield.
Fred, 24, has scored twice in 16 league appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk so far this season and has also appeared six times in the Champions League.
United are currently in second place in the league table as they look to try and get as close to leaders Manchester City as possible.
Meanwhile, the 20-time English champions are currently preparing for their Premier League encounter against Stoke City at Old Trafford on Monday.
