Chelsea renews interest in Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly hopeful of landing Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

The Italian defender, who played a key part in helping bianconeri to the brink of a European and domestic treble this term, was a rumoured target for the west Londoners last year.

It was reported at the time that Bonucci was Conte’s No.1 defensive target following their time together at Turin, but a deal could not be materialised and David Luiz was instead re-signed on transfer deadline day.

It is understood – Conte to spend big in the coming weeks to bolster Blues’ title-winning squad, and re-ignite the interest in signing 30-year-old centre back at the top of his wishlist.

Bonucci could supposedly be offered a four-year contact on weekly wages somewhere around £115,000, which is enough to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and the latest European champions Real Madrid.
