Didier Drogba completes move to Montreal Impact

Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba has completed his move to the Canadian side Montreal Impact, the MLS club announced on Monday.

The Ivorian striker had been without a club after leaving the Stamford Bridge in May, but will now join his former teammate Frank Lampard (New York City FC) in the North American top flight.

“It’s an honour to welcome Didier Drogba to the Impact,” Montreal president Joey Saputo told the club’s official website.

“From the first conversation I had with him, I felt that he really wanted to play in Montreal. This is one of the biggest days in club history and his arrival to the club will be beneficial in every aspect.”

Drogba has made 381 appearances for Chelsea between 2004 and 2012, scored seven goals for the west London club last season.

He helped the Blues win four Premier League titles, four FA Cup titles and three League Cup titles across nine season at Stamford Bridge.
