Australian Open 2015: Rafael Nadal ready for action after appendix surgery

World number three Rafael Nadal has declared himself fit for the Australian Open after recovering from appendix surgery.

The Spaniard had an injury-plagued in October before going under the knife last month – forcing him to miss the ATP World Tour Finals.

However, the 14-time Grand Slam winner revealed on his Facebook page that he is now back in full training for the first Grand Slam of next year with Richard Gasquet and his coach Sergi Bruguera.

Nadal has not played a competitive match since October, but now the 28 year old will ready to compete in an ATP tournament in Doha and an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi prior to the Australian Open 2015 to be held in Melbourne which gets under way on January 19 to February 1.
