Lancashire sign fast bowler George Edwards

Lancashire have completed the signing of fast bowler George Edwards on a two-year contract having come through the academy at Surrey.

The 22-year-old whose current contract with Surrey expired at the end of the season, now has joined the Red Rose on a two-year deal.

“George is a young, fast bowler with great potential and will be a great addition to our seam bowling unit,” Lancashire’s director of cricket Ashley Giles revealed in a statement.

“After losing the services of Kyle Hogg, and with Glen Chapple perhaps playing a limited role, this is an area that we need to strengthen.”

Edwards, who made his Championship debut against Worcestershire in 2012, has claimed eight wickets in the four first-class matches with an average of 43.25.
