Champions League T20: Daniel Vettori withdraws from the Northern Knights

Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has ruled himself out from the Northern Knights squad for the Champions League Twenty20 to be played in India in September and October due to family health issues.

“I really love playing for ND and to do so on a world stage would have been a real highlight,” the left-arm spinner said.

The Northern Knights that won the New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 competition last season – are already without hugely influential all-rounder Corey Anderson, who opted to represent Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians in the CLT20.

Australian seamer Chris Tremain, Anurag Verma, Jono Hickey and all-rounder Mitchell Santner are the expected contenders for the 35-year-old’s replacement.
