Australian veteran batsman Simon Katich has announced his retirement from T20 cricket with immediate effect on Saturday, the only format he was playing after quitting first-class cricket in June 2012.
“It’s always difficult when it comes to making these sorts of decisions,” said Katich. “I’ve obviously been in a similar situation when I made the decision to retire from first-class cricket in Australia a few years ago.”
The 38-year-old brought an end to his glittering career, who already retired from Tests and ODIs, will thus miss the September’s Champions League tournament in India.
Katich, a left-hand batsman has scored 2483 runs in 118 Twenty20 games at an average of 30.28.
