Australia’s Simon Katich retires from T20 cricket

Australian veteran batsman Simon Katich has announced his retirement from T20 cricket with immediate effect on Saturday, the only format he was playing after quitting first-class cricket in June 2012.

It’s always difficult when it comes to making these sorts of decisions,said Katich. “I’ve obviously been in a similar situation when I made the decision to retire from first-class cricket in Australia a few years ago.

The 38-year-old brought an end to his glittering career, who already retired from Tests and ODIs, will thus miss the September’s Champions League tournament in India.

Katich, a left-hand batsman has scored 2483 runs in 118 Twenty20 games at an average of 30.28.
