England: All-rounder Ben Stokes ruled out of World Twenty20

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of World Twenty20 with hand injury, The England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed.


The Durham all-rounder picked up the injury, when he punched a dressing room locker after his dismissal in the third Twenty20 win over West Indies on Thursday.

The 22-year-old Left-handed batsman will be replaced by Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes to England’s 15-man squad for the World T20.

Woakes, 25, has played four T20Is with an average of 37.00. He played his last Twenty20 game in Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder against Adelaide Strikers on December 2013.

Stokes said on www.ecb.co.uk, “I am really disappointed to be missing out on going to a World T20 with England. I would like to wish the team all the very best in Bangladesh.
